Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Stolen Vehicle During High-Speed Pursuit on East Florence Avenue in South LA

 
SOUTH LOS ANGELES, CA (June 20, 2022) – A pedestrian died in a stolen vehicle pursuit at East Florence Avenue and South Central Avenue in South Los Angeles on Thursday.
 
The fatal crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on June 16 in the Florence neighborhood. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were trying to stop the stolen vehicle when the driver fled at a high rate of speed, leading to the chase.
 
A short time later, the vehicle struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street near the intersection of East Florence Avenue and South Central Avenue.
 
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities only described him as a man in his 50s.
 
Video from the scene showed the stolen vehicle rolled over as a result of the crash.
 
The driver, a 30-year-old woman, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
An investigation into this fatal crash is underway.
