Lisandro Santos Dies, Saul Armenta Charged in DUI Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 99 near Betty Drive

 
TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 29, 2024) — Lisandro Santos died in a wrong-way DUI accident on Highway 99 near Betty Drive.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the wrong-way fatal crash happened around 3:10 a.m. Wednesday. For DUI reasons, 20-year-old Saul Saldana Armenta was driving his southbound 2015 Dodge Charger in the northbound lanes. Subsequently, his wrong-way vehicle crashed into a 2022 Honda Civic, driven by 21-year-old Lisandro Santos.
 
Shortly after, CHP officers responded after having received reports of a wrong-way motorist in the area. Upon arriving, they located two damaged vehicles and determined that impairment factored into the cause. Officers arrested Armenta, of Fresno, on DUI charges.
 
Tragically, Santos passed away from his severe injuries just days before his 22nd birthday. Loved ones created a GoFundMe page to seek help from others.
