Man Dies, High-Speed Motorcycle Crash on Water Street in Santa Cruz

 
SANTA CRUZ, CA (December 19, 2022) — A Santa Cruz man died in a high-speed motorcycle accident on Water Street near Branciforte Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal motorcycle accident occurred around 1:50 a.m. Saturday. For unknown reasons, a 54-year-old man operating a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle ran a stop sign at excessive speeds.
 
Subsequently, officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver did not stop to the officer’s lights and sirens. For some reason, the driver lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into a curb, west of Branciforte Avenue.
 
Despite efforts to save the man, officers pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
At this time, the victim’s name is unavailable. Although, the details, including why he failed to stop, will be investigated by authorities. If anyone has more information on this incident or the motorcyclist, please call the CHP.
