SACRAMENTO, CA (February 15, 2024) — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a big rig on the 5 Freeway near El Camino Avenue Wednesday morning.
 
According to news reports, the deadly pedestrian accident happened around 4:20 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, a big rig driver struck a female pedestrian near the El Camino Avenue off-ramp. Shortly after, California Highway Patrol and paramedics responded to the scene near the No. 3 lane to find the woman with fatal injuries. Officials did not release her name but said she was carrying a Nevada ID card.
 
Moments after the crash, police interviewed the driver and said neither drugs nor alcohol factored into the cause. However, an investigation should reveal more information.
