Vista Hit-and-Run on South Santa Fe Avenue Leaves Pedestrian Pinned Under Truck

 
VISTA, CA (October 7, 2021) – A pedestrian was airlifted in a hit-and-run crash on South Santa Fe Avenue in Vista late Tuesday afternoon.
 
The crash happened around 5:00 p.m. on October 5 in the parking lot of AutoZone near Civic Center Drive. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, a Toyota pickup truck hit the male pedestrian in the area.
 
After hitting the victim, the involved driver fled the scene on foot, leaving the man pinned underneath the pickup.
 
Vista Fire Department crews extricated the trapped and injured pedestrian. An air ambulance then took the victim to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido in an unknown condition.
 
At this time, sheriff’s officials are still on the lookout for the suspect. They asked anyone with information to call them at (760) 940-4551, or San Diego County Crime Stoppers’ anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477.
