Two Pedestrians Die after Struck by DUI Hit-and-Run Driver in Orange

 
ORANGE, CA (November 27, 2023) – Manuel Ortiz was among two pedestrians who were killed in a DUI hit-and-run crash in Orange Thursday evening on November 23.
 
The fatal crash happened around 8:15 p.m. in the 700 block of North Shattuck Place, a few blocks west of the 55 Freeway. According to the Orange Police Department, 26-year-old Humberto Flores of Orange was driving a Ford F-250 when he hit a parked Chevrolet Silverado.
 
Two men who were standing near the Chevrolet were hit by Flores. Both died at the scene.
 
Family and friends have identified Ortiz as one of the fatal victims. He was a 59-year-old Santa Ana resident.

Meanwhile, Flores fled the scene on foot but was taken into custody shortly after. He faces multiple charges including two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI causing death and fleeing the scene of a crash.

Ortiz’s family set up a GoFundMe page for his funeral expenses.
