Head-On Crash on Highway 1 in Sonoma County Sends Six People to Hospital

 
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (March 29, 2023) – Six people were injured in a head-on accident on Highway 1 in Sonoma County Saturday afternoon on March 25.
 
The accident happened between Timber Cove and The Sea Ranch, a few hundred feet north of the Ocean Cove Bar and Grill. According to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, two cars collided head-on, sending one over the side of the narrow highway. It then came to rest about 15 feet down the embankment. The other car flipped over on its side, blocking the roadway.
 
One vehicle contained a family of five and the other had only a driver.
 
Paramedics transported a total of six people to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with minor to moderate injuries.
 
As crews were working to free the crash victims, a tree fell about six miles north near Fisk Mill Cove, taking down some power lines and starting a vegetation fire.
 
The crash stopped traffic in both directions for about two hours.
 
The CHP and Sonoma County Regional Park are handling the investigation.
