Woman Dies after Struck by Pickup Truck on 55 Freeway in Tustin

 
TUSTIN, CA (May 23, 2022) – Sarah De La Riva died in a pedestrian accident on 55 Freeway in Tustin on Saturday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 1:10 a.m. on May 21 along the northbound freeway at 17th Street. According to the California Highway Patrol, De La Riva was walking in freeway lanes when a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup struck her.
 
33-year-old De La Riva fatal died at the scene. Her city of residence was not available, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver, a 51-year-old Orange woman, remained on scene and cooperated with authorities.
 
At this time, it is still unclear why De La Riva was in the road. It is also unknown if drugs or alcohol was involved.
 
An investigation into this fatality is ongoing.
