Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Car on Anaheim Street in Long Beach

 
LONG BEACH, CA (May 23, 2022) – A man died in a bicycle accident at Anaheim Street and Coronado Avenue in Long Beach on Saturday morning.
 
The accident happened around 12:15 a.m. on May 21. According to the Long Beach Police Department, a 2009 Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound on Anaheim Street and struck the bicyclist, who was going eastbound in the westbound lanes of Anaheim Street.
 
Responding paramedics found the bicyclist lying on the roadway and was unconscious. The victim died at the scene.
 
The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office only identified the bicyclist as a 32-year-old Long Beach resident. They will release his name once family members are properly notified.
 
The driver of the Toyota, a resident of Glendale, remained on scene and cooperated with police.
 
Police said neither distracted driving, impaired driving, nor speed were believed to be factors in the crash.
