Woman in Tent Dies after Struck Over by Reversing Semi Truck on State Street in Redding

 
REDDING, CA (November 22, 2022) – A woman was struck and killed on State Street in Redding Saturday evening on November 19.
 
The crash happened around 8:19 p.m. just west of Favretto Avenue. According to the Redding Police Department, a 62-year-old driver of a semi truck was backing up westbound on State Street when he struck the woman who was inside a tent south of the road.
 
When officers arrived, they found the woman dead inside the tent that was partially under the semi.
 
Both the driver and passenger were contacted at the scene and gave a statement on the crash.
 
Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. Authorities asked anyone with further information to contact the Redding Police Department Traffic Unit at 530-225-4200.
