Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway [University City, CA]

Fatal University City Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway near Genesee Avenue

 
UNIVERSITY CITY, CA (March 21, 2022) – A woman died in a pedestrian accident on 5 Freeway, late Thursday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on March 17 at about 11:30 p.m. Witnesses claimed that the woman was walking on the freeway against the traffic.
 
A short time later, a vehicle hit the pedestrian near the Genesee Avenue exit.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Responders temporarily closed all four northbound lanes of 5 Freeway to make way for an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
