82-Year-Old Woman Dies after Struck by Vehicle in Citrus Heights

 
CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA (June 30, 2023) – Vira Zheltonozhko was killed in a pedestrian accident in Citrus Heights Tuesday evening on June 27.
 
The fatal accident happened just after 8:00 p.m. on eastbound Antelope Road between Lauppe Lane and Auburn Boulevard, near Rusch Community Park. According to the Citrus Heights Police Department, Zheltonozhko was walking in the area when a vehicle struck her.
 
When officers arrived, they found Zheltonozhko lying on the sidewalk. They attempted life-saving efforts, but Zheltonozhko died at the scene.
 
The victim was an 82-year-old Citrus Heights resident, according to the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
 
The driver was not injured. It was unclear whether drugs, alcohol or speed was a factor.
 
Authorities asked witnesses to contact the Citrus Heights police at 916-727-5500.
