Motorist Runs Through Red Light and Crashes into Another Car on Panama Lane in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (August 9, 2023) – Two men were injured in a car accident at Panama Lane and Akers Road in south Bakersfield on Sunday evening.
 
The accident happened around 10:21 p.m. on August 6. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a vehicle was traveling west on Panama Lane when it ran a red light and hit another car. It then crashed into a brick wall.
 
As a result, the man driving the other car suffered major injuries. The man who ran the red light had moderate injuries.
 
Paramedics transported both men to a hospital for treatment.
 
Police said they suspect speed and alcohol contributed to the crash. An investigation is ongoing.
