Charles Piezzi Arrested in DUI Crash on Lakeville Highway [Petaluma, CA]

Police Arrest 58-Year-Old Man for DUI and Hit-and-Run after Crash in Petaluma

 
PETALUMA, CA (August 10, 2023) – Charles Piezzi was arrested in a DUI crash in Petaluma late Sunday afternoon on August 6.
 
The crash happened around 5:50 p.m. on Lakeview Highway at South McDowell Boulevard. According to the Petaluma Police Department, the 58-year-old suspect was driving an SUV when he rear-ended a vehicle. The impact caused a chain-reaction crash involving a total of four vehicles.
 
After the crash, Piezzi drove his car over a curb, parked it in a nearby parking lot and fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood.
 
Police tracked him to the backyard of a home in the 1500 block of Rio Nido Way. Piezzi failed to surrender and entered the unlocked backdoor of the residence. He entered another nearby backyard in an apparent effort to evade officers.
 
Officers gave chase and later arrested the suspect on a slew of charges including DUI and hit-and-run.

Police learned that Piezzi had switched license plates with a different vehicle he owned. A records check showed the suspect was on DUI probation and his driver’s license was suspended.

Meanwhile, paramedics took one adult female to a hospital with unspecified injuries.

A 12-year-old child was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

At this time, an investigation is underway.
