Police Arrest Jerry Aguirre for Hit-and-Run after Seriously Injuring Pedestrian in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 7, 2022) – Police arrested Jerry Aguirre for hit-and-run after seriously injuring pedestrian and leaving the scene on Thursday evening in downtown Bakersfield.
 
The crash happened around 8:46 p.m. on November 3 at the intersection of 4th Street and Chester Avenue. According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the 70-year-old suspect was driving a vehicle when he struck a male pedestrian.
 
After hitting the victim, Aguirre fled the scene without rendering aid.
 
Police found the pedestrian lying in the roadway with major injuries. Paramedics rushed the man to Kern Medical in critical condition.

Investigators identified Aguirre as the driver and arrested him on Terrace Way between South N and South P streets. They booked him on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in injury and driving without a license.
