Tiffany Peterson Dies, Charles Peterson Hospitalized, David Baskett Involved After Truck Crashes Into Forklift on Skyway Drive near Fairway Drive

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (May 6, 2024) — Tiffany Peterson died after a pickup crashed into a forklift on Skyway Drive near Fairway Drive.
 
According to the Santa Maria Police Department, the fatal two-vehicle accident happened Thursday around 3:00 p.m. For an unknown reason, Charles Peterson allowed his small blue truck to collide with a Caterpillar telehandler or telescoping forklift. Subsequently, paramedics responded to the 3000 block of Skyway Drive near the Santa Maria Public Airport.
 
Upon responding, they immediately took Charles Peterson to a hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. However, his 39-year-old passenger and daughter passed away in the accident. Authorities identified her as Tiffany Ann Peterson.
 
Following the crash, 81-year-old David Baskett stayed at the scene for the investigation explaining that he had plans to return the forklift to a local rental company. However, authorities had not confirmed the details of the accident, including whether the forklift was stationary or operative at the time or merely the positioning of the equipment.
