Police Arrest Laurie Haynes for Hit-and-Run after Fatally Striking Pedestrian in Santa Fe Springs

 
SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (July 15, 2021) – A pedestrian died and police arrested Laurie Haynes after a hit-and-run crash in Santa Fe Springs late Wednesday evening.
 
The fatal crash happened around 10:34 p.m. on July 7, in the 8700 block of Sorensen Avenue. According to the Whittier Police Department, the 42-year-old suspect from Santa Fe Springs was driving an SUV when she struck a male pedestrian.
 
After hitting the pedestrian, Haynes drove away without rendering aid.
 
Responding paramedics found the victim lying in the roadway with fatal injuries. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Coroner’s officials only described the victim as a man in his 60s.
 
Police later located Haynes and arrested her on suspicion of hit-and-run. They booked her at Whittier jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
