Pedestrian Fatally Struck Multiple Times in a Hit-and-Run Accident on 5 Freeway

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (April 8, 2022) — A pedestrian died after a hit-and-run accident and being struck multiple times on the 5 Freeway.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, it occurred on the northbound 5 Freeway near the J Street off-ramp at around 8:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7.
 
The initial car involved in the incident drove in the furthest right lane of the freeway. Then it hit the pedestrian who was lying in the road and drove off.
 
Subsequently, the pedestrian was also hit at least three more times by passing vehicles after the first one. His body came to rest two lanes over, just north of the J Street exit.
 
The parties involved, excluding the hit-and-run suspect, called 911. Then they waited for police to arrive.
 
Authorities continue to search for the driver that fled. As of now, they do not have a description for the suspect or the vehicle.
 
The incident affected traffic Wednesday night per CHP.
