BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 22, 2024) — A pedestrian hit by a car on Niles Street and Tate Street suffered major injuries.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian crash happened Thursday around 8:47 p.m. For unknown reasons, a Toyota Corolla driver struck a male pedestrian walking outside of a crosswalk on Niles Street. Subsequently, the driver pulled over and waited for the authorities to arrive.
 
Soon after, paramedics arrived and took the 53-year-old victim to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Meanwhile, investigators interviewed the driver, who they believe was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
 
At this time, officials have not released the leading cause of the crash. However, we will update this report once we get new details.
