Driver Killed After Crashing Vehicle Into Trailers on Highway 1 in Santa Maria

 
SANTA MARIA, CA (April 29, 2024) — A man died after his car crashed into two harvesting trailers on Highway 1 near Black Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal car accident happened around 5:54 p.m. Wednesday. For an unknown reason, a 28-year-old man from Santa Maria allowed his northbound 2010 Ford to crash into a parked harvesting trailer on the east shoulder. Subsequently, his vehicle continued traveling north and plowed into another parked harvesting trailer with the car wedging itself beneath the undercarriage.
 
Soon after, authorities responded to the scene to find the victim trapped in the car and with fatal injuries. Officials have not released his name.
 
CHP officers will investigate all possibilities, including if impairment factored into the cause.
