Gridley Crash Involving Semi Truck and Sedan on Highway 99 Turns Deadly

GRIDLEY, CA (November 9, 2021) – At least one person was killed in a semi truck accident on Highway 99 in Gridley late Monday evening.
 
The accident happened around 10:50 p.m. on November 8 at the intersection with Wright Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, a passenger vehicle and the semi truck collided for unknown reasons. The impact sent the semi into an orchard.
 
Paramedics responded and confirmed at least one fatality as a result of the accident.
 
The name, age and hometown of the victim were not immediately available.
 
Crews closed the highway at Wright Avenue in both directions for an unknown period due to the crash. Southbound traffic was being diverted off the highway at Township Road.
 
At this time, the circumstances of the accident remain under investigation.
