56-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Minivan on Monterey Road in San Martin

 
SAN MARTIN, CA (April 24, 2024) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident at Monterey Road and Roosevelt Avenue in San Martin on Tuesday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened around 5:20 a.m. on April 23. According to the California Highway Patrol, the male pedestrian was trying to cross Monterey Road from east to west when a southbound 1998 Ford Windstar traveling at about 50 mph struck him.
 
It was cool, cloudy and dark at the time, the CHP said.
 
The victim suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was only identified as a 56-year-old Gilroy resident. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office will release his full identity on a later time.
 
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash.
