11-Year-Old Neel Sengupta Dead after Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Camden Avenue and Kooser Road
SAN JOSE, CA (July 16, 2021) — An 11-year-old identified as Neel Sengupta, of San Jose, died in a pedestrian accident on Friday, July 9.
The crash occurred at about 5:11 p.m. at the intersection of Camden Avenue and Kooser Road.
According to a San Jose police news release, Sengupta was in a marked crosswalk on Camden Avenue. However, he walked against a do not cross signal. A 2018 Mercedes SUV traveling southbound with a green light hit him.
Medics rushed Sengupta to the hospital, where he died of sustained injuries in the incident.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
Officials do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident at this time.
