Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Pickup Truck while Standing on 101 Freeway in Ventura

 
VENTURA, CA (November 20, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident on 101 Freeway in Ventura Sunday evening on November 19.
 
The fatal accident happened around 9:48 p.m. just north of Seaward Avenue. According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was standing on the freeway wearing dark-colored clothing when a 2019 Ford Ranger traveling at 65 to 70 mph struck him.
 
After the initial crash, the man came to a rest within the traffic lane of southbound 101 Freeway. While he was still on ground, two other vehicles also hit him.
 
First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. He was a 52-year-old Oxnard resident.
 
The driver of the Ford Ranger, a 25-year-old Camarillo man, remained on scene and cooperated with officers.
 
It is unknown if the other involved drivers stayed after the crash. Further investigation is underway.
