Motorcyclist Dies after Struck by Van Pulling Out of Driveway on Orangewood Drive in Escondido

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (December 20, 2022) – A man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Orangewood Drive in the Escondido area Saturday afternoon on December 17.
 
The fatal accident happened around 2:17 p.m. at Mary Lane, about a couple of miles west of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. According to the California Highway Patrol, the victim was riding a black Honda CBR motorcycle in the northbound lane of Mary Lane. At the same time, a 22-year-old man from Fallbrook was driving a white Nissan NV 1500 van.
 
The van was pulling out of a private driveway onto Mary Lane when it collided with the motorcycle.
 
Firefighter paramedics responded to the scene and found the rider suffering from significant injuries. They rushed him to a hospital, where the victim later died.
 
Alcohol was not suspected to have contributed to the cause of the crash.
 
An investigation is ongoing. The CHP urged witnesses to call them at 760-643- 3400.
