Bicyclist Dies after Struck by Vehicle on Highway 99 in Sacramento County

 
SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA (December 20, 2022) – A man was killed in a bicycle accident on Highway 99 in Sacramento County on Saturday morning.
 
The fatal accident happened shortly after 5:00 a.m. on December 17, just north of the Bruceville Road on-ramp. According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver reported hitting an unknown object causing moderate damage to the front-end and driver side of the vehicle.
 
When firefighters arrived, they determined the object was the bicyclist who had been hit and killed, coming to rest in the center median of southbound Highway 99, just north of Mack Road.

Authorities only identified the victim as a 64-year-old man of Zanesville, Ohio.

The driver of the vehicle, a 58-year-old Sacramento man, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Alcohol or drugs were not considered as factors in the crash.
