Child Dies after Struck by Relative’s Car while Running on Goodman Street in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, CA (December 20, 2022) – A three-year-old boy was killed in a pedestrian accident on Goodman Street in the Riverside neighborhood Saturday morning.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. on December 17, police responded to the 4100 block of Goodman Street after receiving reports of collision involving a pedestrian.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 61-year-old woman driving a GMC Yukon made a U-turn at the end of the street and was driving northbound when the child ran from his home into the roadway.

The Yukon struck the child, causing severe injuries on the victim.

First responders rushed the boy to a local hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the Yukon was not injured and was cooperating with investigators. She was a relative of the child.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a factor in the crash. The Riverside Police Department is handling the investigation. They asked anyone with further information to contact traffic detectives at 951-826-8723.

We express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
