Pedestrian Dies after Struck by Hit-and-Run Car on Wilbur Avenue in Antioch

 
ANTIOCH, CA (March 18, 2024) – A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Wilbur Avenue in Antioch early Sunday morning on March 17.
 
According to the Antioch Police Department, a Kia sedan struck the male pedestrian near 1800 Wilbur Avenue around 1:30 a.m. The driver did not stop after the crash.
 
Responding officers rendered aid to the pedestrian until paramedics from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District took over.
 
Despite life-saving efforts, the pedestrian died at the scene. His identity was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
 
Police are still collecting evidence and gathering information from witnesses. Further investigation is underway.
