24-Year-Old Man Dies after Struck by Two Vehicles in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 18, 2024)Carlosm Ibrahim Perez Zamora was hit and killed by two vehicles in Bakersfield late Friday evening on March 15.
 
The fatal crash happened around 11:42 p.m. on North Wheeler Ridge Road, just north of Sycamore Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, Zamora was walking on the solid white line of southbound Wheeler Ridge Road. At the same time, a Toyota was traveling southbound and tried to pass him.
 
For unknown reasons, Zamora suddenly traveled eastbound directly into the path of the Toyota. The driver tried to dodge Zamora but was unable to avoid striking him.
 
After striking him, the 33-year-old driver immediately stopped and remained at the scene.
 
While Zamora was lying unresponsive in the southbound lane of Wheeler Ridge Road, a Honda also hit his body. The 40-year-old driver pulled over and stayed on scene.

Zamora was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a 24-year-old Arvin resident.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. The crash remains under investigation.
