56-Year-Old Man Dead in Head-On Accident on Highway 29 in Calistoga

 
CALISTOGA, CA (February 11, 2022) – A 56-year-old man was killed in a head-on accident on Highway 29 on Thursday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on February 10, at about 9:18 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a southbound GMC Sierra 1500 truck went over the double yellow lines. Then, the truck collided with a northbound Ford E-250 van near Diamond Mountain Road.
 
Emergency crews pronounced the GMC driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, a medical helicopter transported the 51-year-old Ford driver to a hospital for treatment of major injuries. As per reports, a Ford passenger also needed hospitalization.
 
Responders temporarily closed the affected areas to make way for an investigation.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
