21-Year-Old Woman Dies after Car Overturns on Highway 101 near Gaviota Tunnel

 
GAVIOTA, CA (March 13, 2021) – Gloria Ashley De Nova Morales died in a rollover accident Wednesday morning in Gaviota.
 
The accident happened around 6:45 a.m., March 10, along Highway 101 near the Gaviota Tunnel.
 
According to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department, Morales, a 21-year-old Guadalupe resident, was driving her 2007 Lexus southbound. For unknown reasons, she allowed her vehicle to travel onto the shoulder and down a dirt embankment. The car then collided with a tree.
 
Morales suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. She was alone in the vehicle.
 
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, according to officials. They added the driver was wearing safety equipment at the time of the accident.
 
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
