Construction Worker Dies after Explosion near Chico Airport

 
CHICO, CA (October 24, 2022) – A cement company employee was killed after an explosion involving a cement truck near the Chico airport on Friday.
 
The accident happened around 3:49 p.m. on October 21. According to the Chico Police Department, officers responded to reports of an explosion at a project located off Boeing Avenue.
 
When they arrived, they found a man unresponsive near a concrete pumping truck. First responders took lifesaving measures, but the man succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
The victim’s identity was withheld, pending notification of the next of kin.
 
Officers believe the man was a construction worker on the Cohasset widening project.
 
The cause of the explosion is under investigation, but officials believe a clogged pipe caused the explosion in the cement truck.
