According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal ATV crash happened on March 23 around 4:00 p.m. For unknown reasons, a 2021 Polaris Razor driven by a 61-year-old Sunnyside, Washington man rolled over and crashed.

Moments later, emergency personnel reached the scene and brought the driver to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs for treatment of major injuries. Tragically, a 68-year-old passenger from Eagle, Michigan, died at the scene.

In the investigation, CHP officers learned that both men were wearing their seatbelts but not their helmets. Drugs and alcohol did not play a factor in the crash.
