6-Year-Old Dead in Tulare County Single-Car Accident on Highway 198

 
TULARE COUNTY, CA (April 4, 2022) — A 6-year-old boy died in a solo-car crash on Highway 198 near Eggers Drive on April 1.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly single-car accident happened early Friday morning around 12:42 a.m. For unknown reasons, a 22-year-old driver heading westbound on the highway traveled off the road and hit a sign and some trees before traveling down an embankment.
 
Due to the manner of the crash, the driver, a 24-year-old female passenger, a 3-year-old and 6-year-old suffered a range of injuries.
 
Soon after, paramedics rushed all patients to Kaweah Health Medical Center in Visalia, where the 6-year-old died from his injuries.
 
At this time, officers have not released information on the related cause or outstanding details. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm if DUI, speeding or distracted driving played a factor in the accident. If anyone has additional information, please contact the CHP.
