Small Plane Crashes on West Westmont Drive in San Pedro Badly Injuring the Pilot and Student

 
SAN PEDRO, CA (September 28, 2023) – Two people were seriously injured in a plane crash on West Westmont Drive in San Pedro Monday afternoon on September 25.
 
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a single-engine Sling Tsi plane crashed onto a soccer field in the 400 block of Westmont Drive just before 1:00 p.m. The flight originated in Torrance.
 
The woman, who is believed to be in her 30s, was pulled out of the plane by two bystanders. The pilot, believed to be around 45, was rescued by firefighters.
 
Both were taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in critical condition.
 
The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Agency are handling the investigation.
