Man Hospitalized after Sports Car and Semi-Truck Rear-End Accident on 5 Freeway in Castaic

 
CASTAIC, CA (May 9, 2024) – A man sustained injuries in a rear-end accident on 5 Freeway, Thursday afternoon.
 
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the incident happened on May 9, shortly after noon. For reasons still under investigation, an orange Chevrolet Corvette crashed into the rear of a semi-truck near Hasley Canyon Road.
 
Firefighters extricated the sports car driver and rushed him to a local hospital. The victim, identified as a man in his 70s, suffered crush injuries. His condition remains unknown.
 
Responders temporarily closed the northbound lanes to make way for clearing operations and an investigation.
 
The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
