Teen Pedestrian Hospitalized in Hit-and-Run Crash on Union Avenue in Bakersfield

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 28, 2023) — A 14-year-old pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run accident on Union Avenue near 9th Street.
 
According to the Bakersfield Police, the hit-and-run happened around 10:50 p.m. Monday. Under unclear circumstances, a driver struck the 14-year-old girl in the 900 block of Union Avenue. Authorities learned that the teen was crossing Union Avenue, outside of a crosswalk, when the accident occurred.
 
Instead of staying to help, the driver left the scene, driving away in what authorities described as a red sedan.
 
Soon after the crash, paramedics took the patient to a local hospital in critical condition.
