2 Killed in Highway 4 Head-On Crash in Stanislaus County

 
STANISLAUS COUNTY, CA (February 28, 2023) — Two people died in a head-on accident on Highway 4 near Dunton Road.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly two-vehicle collision happened around 6:30 a.m. Monday. For unknown reasons, a 21-year-old Stockton woman driving a westbound vehicle veered over the center line. Her Honda subsequently struck a Toyota pickup, driven by a 51-year-old Copperopolis man.
 
Investigators learned that both drivers tried to avoid the impending collision by steering into the northbound shoulder. Although, both vehicles collided anyway in a head-on fashion.
 
Arriving CHP officials pronounced both drivers deceased at the scene. Authorities do not know what led to the accident or if drugs or alcohol played a factor. However, an ongoing investigation should confirm these details.
