Felicita Flores Dies Days after Carlsbad Pedestrian Accident

 
CARLSBAD, CA (April 22, 2022) – A woman died following a pedestrian accident near Melrose Drive and Rancho Santa Fe Road on Thursday, April 14.
 
Police identified the victim as 56-year-old Felicita Vazquez Flores of San Marcos, according to the San Diego county medical examiner’s office.
 
According to the Carlsbad Police Department, the incident happened at about 5:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a southbound pickup truck hit Flores at Rancho Santa Fe Road and Melrose Drive.
 
Flores suffered major injuries and was transported to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where she died three days later.
 
Police say the 40-year-old driver of the truck and numerous witnesses remained in the area to provide information to investigators.
 
Responders temporarily closed the southbound lanes of Rancho Santa Fe Road to make way for an investigation.
 
Carlsbad police continue to investigate the cause of the accident. However, officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
