Leticia Gutierrez de Ordaz Killed in San Diego Car Accident on 5 Freeway

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 22, 2022) — A woman died in a rollover truck crash on 5 Freeway just south of Coronado Avenue on Tuesday, April 12.
 
Officials identified the victim as 64-year-old San Ysidro resident Leticia Gutierrez de Ordaz, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, thecrash happened around 11:00 a.m. in San Diego’s Nestor neighborhood. Gutierrez de Ordaz was the passenger in a truck driven by her husband when he made a quick lane change. As a result, the truck crashed with another vehicle, rolling several times.
 
For unknown reasons her husband made a quick lane change and traveled across the highway towards the exit crossing several lanes. A woman in a Volkswagen Jetta then hit the pickup from behind, causing the truck to flip multiple times.
 
Gutierrez de Ordaz was thrown from the pickup and badly hurt during the crash. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead shortly after.
 
Her husband, the 65-year-old Ford driver, suffered major injuries. In addition, the woman driving the Jetta sustained minor injuries.
 
At this time, California Highway Patrol did not suspect drug or alcohol were factors.
