DUI Driver Involved in Accident on 5 Freeway in San Diego County

 
SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA (November 11, 2021) – Police arrested a car driver following a DUI accident on 5 Freeway on November 8.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Camp Pendleton around 12:30 AM.
 
Based on an initial report, the suspect was traveling northbound on the freeway at the time of the crash. Due to unknown reasons, he veered off the freeway and slammed into a building at the CHP commercial vehicle inspection facility.
 
CHP officials had been working on the southbound side of the facility when they heard the crash. They ran over to find the vehicle on fire but the driver had already escaped the wreck.
 
As a result, the driver suffered minor injuries in the incident.
 
In the end, officials arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
 
At this point, an investigation is still ongoing.
