CLEARLAKE, CA (September 7, 2021) — A man died in a pedestrian crash on Highway 53 at Dam Road Wednesday night.
 
According to police officers, the fatal crash happened around 8:45 p.m. For reasons that require further investigation, a female driver struck the male pedestrian as he tried crossing the road.
 
In the investigation, detectives learned that the victim was wearing dark-colored clothing while crossing in a marked crosswalk. However, the driver informed police that she had a green traffic light before she swerved to avoid the impending crash.
