Man Killed in San Jose Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on 680 Freeway

 
SAN JOSE, CA (September 1, 2021) — A man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on the 680 Freeway near Berryessa Road Monday.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 8:40 p.m. For unknown reasons, the man tried crossing the southbound lanes of the freeway when an oncoming vehicle struck him.
 
Soon after, police responded to the scene to find the man’s body in the road and the driver unaccounted for it. Not long after, authorities pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
Due to the investigation, CHP officers closed all lanes of the southbound freeway and diverted traffic onto Berryessa Road.
 
At this time, the fatal victim’s identity and an explanation for the accident require further investigation. Although, any witnesses with information should contact the CHP’s San Jose-area office at (408) 961-0900.
