Fatal Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Diamond Bar, Bruce Bodel Dies Days Later

 
DIAMOND BAR, CA (July 13, 2021) – A pedestrian died in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Lycoming Street and Penarth Avenue on Sunday, July 4.
 
Officials identified the victim as 72-year-old Bruce Bodel of Diamond Bar, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
 
The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Bodel crossed Penarth Avenue when he was struck by a westbound car on Lycoming Street.
 
Paramedics arrived soon after. They transported Bodel to a hospital, where he passed away several days later from his injuries.
 
After the crash, the driver did not stop to render aid and sped away from the scene, leaving the pedestrian with major injuries. The sheriff’s department released surveillance images of the suspect vehicle, described only as a silver or gray two-door sedan. It was last seen heading southbound on Lemon Avenue.
 
Authorities asked anyone with information to contact the Walnut Station Detective Bureau at 909-859-2817.
