Davis High School Senior Dies in Solano County DUI Crash, 3 Other Teens Badly Hurt

 
SOLANO COUNTY, CA (April 19, 2021) – Ayush Shrestha died and three other teens were injured in a DUI accident in a rural Solano County Saturday evening, April 17.
 
The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. along Tremont Road near Bulkley Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, the 18-year-old victim from Woodland was driving a black Ford Mustang at a high rate of speed. He made an unsafe turn, lost control of the car as it flipped and landed in the field.
 
Shrestha and his right rear passenger, 18-year-old Jasper Eerkens of Davis, were ejected during the crash. They were not wearing their seat belts.
 
Sadly, Shrestha died at the scene. Paramedics rushed Eerkens to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
 
Two other passengers, Woodland girls aged 16 and 17, also sustained serious injuries. One of the girls was identified as Sophia Durgin.
 
The Davis Joint Unified School District said three of the teens, including the driver, were students at Davis High.
 
Authorities said alcohol played a role in the crash, which remains under investigation.
