Fatal Train Accident near Old Town Transit Center in San Diego

 
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 20, 2021) – A pedestrian died in a train accident near Old Town Transit Center on Taylor Street late Thursday evening, April 15.
 
The accident happened around 10:10 p.m. just north of 5 Freeway, according to the San Diego County Sheriff‘s Office.
 
Investigators determined a northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train struck the pedestrian as it crossed the Taylor Street grade crossing. As a result, the pedestrian sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
 
Authorities asked anyone with further information about the accident to call the Sheriff’s Department at (858) 565-5200.
