Caltrans Subcontractor Dies in Hit-and-Run on Highway 99 in South Sacramento

 
SACRAMENTO, CA (July 26, 2021) – A worker was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 99 in South Sacramento Monday evening.
 
The accident happened around 8:50 p.m. on July 26, just south of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2015 to 2018 model Ford F-150 pickup truck swerved for unknown reasons and hit the worker.
 
After the crash, the driver of the Ford drove away from the scene. Authorities said the pickup should have damage on its right-hand side.
 
The victim’s body was found beneath a trailer. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was a Caltrans subcontractor who was putting up construction detour signs at the time.
 
Deputies are still investigating the incident and searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
