56-Year-Old Woman Hospitalized after Carlsbad Pedestrian Accident on Rancho Santa Fe Road near Melrose Drive

 
CARLSBAD, CA (April 19, 2022) – A 56-year-old San Marcos woman sustained injuries following a pedestrian accident on Rancho Santa Fe Road, early Thursday morning.
 
According to the Carlsbad Police Department, the incident happened on April 14 at about 5:00 a.m. For reasons still under investigation, a southbound pickup truck hit the victim near Melrose Drive.
 
Emergency crews rushed the victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Authorities did not release the name of the woman.
 
Meanwhile, the 40-year-old pickup truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
 
Responders temporarily closed the southbound lanes of Rancho Santa Fe Road to make way for an investigation.
 
Carlsbad police continue to investigate the cause of the accident. Officers will release additional information once it becomes available.
