MENIFEE, CA (April 19, 2022) — Ashley Cerda was arrested in a police chase accident on Sherman Road at Highway 74 on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Menifee Police Department, the police chase accident occurred around 12:20 p.m. However, moments before, 24-year-old Cerda and 35-year-old Andres Godoy reportedly stole a utility pickup from a Quail Valley resident.
Upon the robbery, the victim contacted 911, which prompted authorities to pursue the suspects.
Officers spotted the pickup truck speed by on eastbound Highway 74, yet only to crash into an unoccupied building on Sherman Road soon after.
Subsequently, officers reached the crash scene and learned that the suspects had fled on foot. However, officers arrested uninjured Cerda without incident and booked her into the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta for outstanding warrants. As for Godoy, he remains at large, and officers need the public’s help in identifying his whereabouts.
Following the incident, the fire captain requested city building inspectors to evaluate the property, which required red-tagging due to the damage.
