Head-On Crash on Highway 32 near Gianella Road Leaves 1 Dead

 
BUTTE COUNTY, CA (February 5, 2023) – A woman died and Miguel Velazquez was injured after a head-on crash on Highway 32 in Butte County Friday afternoon.
 
The fatal crash happened just after 3:00 p.m. on February 3, near the Sacramento River. According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2002 Acura was traveling northbound on the highway when it turned into the left, eastbound lane directly into the path of a 1999 Chevrolet truck.
 
The driver of the Chevrolet attempted to evade the oncoming Acura but was unsuccessful and was struck head-on.
 
Velazquez, 27, was the driver of the Acura. He suffered moderate injuries. His passenger, a 22-year-old woman, died in the crash.
 
At this time, CHP officials are still investigating if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
